Grief Support

I am passionate about supporting those who are struggling in processing their grief experience. I offer a caring and compassionate approach in a private, confidential space to support you in moving forward in living with your life losses. The compassion-based approach used, is influenced by my varied experiences in nursing, additional training in grief, loss, and bereavement through formal education channels, and my own experience of both death and non-death losses in my life.

Whether you just need someone to talk to about your grief experience or a more in-depth approach is required, both grief support or grief counselling can be provided. I am a licensed counsellor regulated under the College of Nurses of Ontario practice standards. In addition, I provide the option for a faith-based grief support approach.

My grief support and counselling approach combines the philosophy of companioning the griever as described by Dr Alan Wolfelt, utilizes a compassion-based therapy approach, and a meaning reconstruction approach in grief counselling as taught by the Portland Institute to support processing and integration of the loss experience into your life.

Grief Support

At some point in life, most people will experience loss and the sorrow that accompanies it. We are all touched by grief in different ways throughout our lives.  Each person has a unique story to tell, as well as the strength and resiliency to live that story. My work comes from a gentle, compassionate, companioning process as described by Dr. Alan Wolfelt, to allow clients to feel heard and supported. This client-centered practice means that your voice, needs and preferences always guide our sessions.

I hold a B.A. and Certificate in Social Work from Waterloo University and have completed training in the Certificate of Death, Dying and Bereavement through Wilfred Laurier.  As well, I have my own personal experiences with both death and non-death losses. Over the past 10 years I have worked with clients in both individual and group settings.  I continue to be grateful to have been able to hold the precious stories of so many courageous souls.

Many of us will experience periods in our lives where we need help and support from others. It would be my privilege to provide that assistance for you as you journey through your grief.
