Jordan, Ruby - Ruby Elizabeth Adele Jordan peacefully departed her journey on earth on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at the Woodstock Hospital. Born December 23, 1920 in Ostrander to the former Mabel Mae McGregor and George Wellington Hall. She resided within the vicinity of Tillsonburg with the last 5 years in residential care in Woodstock. She was predeceased by her 5 siblings, her nephew George Hall, and her late husband Thomas Jordan (1994). Ruby is survived by her daughters Jennifer and Heather; grandsons Joshua (Kelli), Christopher (Sarah) and David (Ginny); her 5 great- grandchildren Kiera, Luke, Logan, Tanner, and Rocco as well as her sister- in- law Mary Moore (Richard). Ruby is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and extended family. Over the years, Ruby was involved with various voluntary organizations in Tillsonburg including the Salvation Army Thrift Store; the call back program at the Community Centre, the Cancer Society, and the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Ruby’s employment began at Tillsonburg Town Hall as assistant to the Clerk and finally settling on a career with the Royal Bank for a number of years. Ruby loved to dance and in her words would have gone to dancing every night with her friends. She enjoyed dozing while winning euchre, dressing to the nines and being a social butterfly! Her church affiliation gave her much strength throughout her life. The family appreciates the care received by Mom during her stay at Caressant Care Nursing Home, Woodstock and the compassion and emotional support at the Woodstock Hospital Palliative Care Unit. To all her friends who visited with Mom over the years, we thank you. The family will receive friends and family on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at the Smith-LeRoy Funeral Home, 69 Wellington Street North, Woodstock from 10:00 - 10:45 am. A celebration of Ruby’s life will follow in the chapel at 11 am and will be officiated by Ruby’s cousin, Rosalie Willeart. A reception will follow at the funeral home with entombment in Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Our Lady of Assumption Mausoleum, 620 Governor’s Road, Paris. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to VON Oxford or Canadian Red Cross Woodstock Branch (for their excellent volunteer wheeled chair transportation provided to Ruby), the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital or Woodstock Hospital-Palliative Unit or to a charity of choice.
“We thank our good fortune and blessings for having her for so long in our lives. What we have enjoyed, we can never lose…. all that we love deeply becomes a part of us.”
