BROADFOOT, Michael G. “Mike” – On February 6, 2018, Michael Gregory Broadfoot left this world at the age of 58 after a short bout with cancer. Beloved husband of Rita (nee Iwanuk). Cherished father of David and his wife Cassie, and proud grandpa of Addison, Aiden, and Ella, whom he adored. Dear son of Mary Ellen (Stan) English and the late Bev (2015) and Helen Broadfoot. Loved brother of Jane, and Lisa (Grant) and their son Dexter. Born in Tillsonburg in 1959, Mike spent his early years in Clinton before the family moved to Woodstock, where he spent most of his life. Mike graduated from Fanshawe College and worked in various capacities at the Ontario Ministry of Health, where he was respected by his many colleagues. In retirement (2016), Mike and Rita moved to Bayfield to enjoy the lake and the landscape of Huron County. Mike had a keen and curious mind and was a lover of music, literature and gardening. He was also an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed spending free time at the North Road Hunt Club. He had an abiding interest in all the lost domestic arts of our settler ancestors. He was the keeper of history, and the heart of the family. He will be deeply missed. Friends will be received at the SMITH-LeROY FUNERAL HOME, 69 Wellington Street North, Woodstock on Saturday, February 17, 2018 from 1:00-1:45 pm. The complete memorial service will be held in the chapel at 2:00 pm, followed by a memorial gathering. Cremation has taken place. If desired, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Research or the Huron Residential Hospice (Clinton) would be appreciated. Smith-LeRoy, (519) 537-3611.
